Hey! It’s been awhile hasn’t it?

My mental health last year took a big hit from a plethora of circumstances throughout 2022

It’s normal for me to continue moving forward despite how I’m feeling. Whether this being a personality I’ve cultivated over the years or something that deeply rooted itself from childhood, I never was one to spend too much time on the way I’m feeling

That was until the last few months where my mind truthfully just was burnt out from doing that for who knows how long

I prioritized near the end of 2022 to not have my thoughts & emotions drowned out by my own expectations, social media’s influence, or just the long term neglect we give ourselves

My focus these last few months has been on learning, listening, and being present with myself & the world around me

I didn’t feel like “myself” at all last year

The person I built myself to be mentally & physically that is

I kept trying to hang onto the person I became, grasping at ideas, goals, habits that could somehow “take me back” to when I felt better

I realized that the more I did that, the more I actually ran away further from myself

Over the last year, months, if I can even quantify the time, I could put an analogy to opening up my eyes to see I was covering myself with sand slowly

Chasing goals one after the other, checking off life’s obligations, picking the next goal, & repeating the cycle over and over

School, work, personal goals, finances, etc

Life passes you by quickly when you’re always going for the next achievement

It’s easy to not spend too much time taking in your feelings, life, & how things are now, when all you do is push it behind you

It will work itself out right?

Or maybe it’s like cleaning your room instead of doing the task you’ve been putting off for a few days

A lot of lifts are still climbing their way back up post being sick for an entire month

Happy to see things are moving up with bench press since it was stuck for so long!

You CAN do this! You CAN become what you want to

You CAN do this!

You CAN become stronger!

You CAN become better!

You CAN become the person you want to become!

How do you go about doing so?

You decide

You decide with every inch of your heart to take that leap & go on your journey

You decide to not relent no matter the circumstances

You decide to show up each & everyday

You remind yourself WHY you are on this journey

You can become strong

You will become strong

All that stands behind that person you wish to become, is a choice

The choice to continue to move forward & not give up at the sign of internal or external struggle

You will become strong!

Remind yourself daily of the person you wish to become!

The gym is a place we can always go to even when things aren’t perfect!

Life will always show up with huge sweeps of distractions, priority changes, and obstacles

Throughout these moments it’s easy to compare yourself to what the gym may have been like during times of ease or minimal obstacles

This is when planning & discipline come into place, alongside a bit of perspective!

The goal is to make the gym LIFE LONG!

With this perspective it is not about being who you were in the gym a few months ago, but the person you can be in the gym NOW

If you can’t do 4-6 days, do 1-3!

If you can’t do 1.5+ hour workouts, aim for 30-60!

We can always do SOMETHING & that something is what we need to focus on!

If your life demands a priority shift, that’s okay!

Plan, adapt, and continue to show up!

250x6 yesterday at about 2-3 RIR!

Getting sick back to back hasn’t made progressing easy by any means 😅

Feels like I’m fighting just to maintain the strength where I’m at, but it’s all part of the process!

This year would have been way harder if I didn’t have my coach @colbs_cass_lifts & the @kabuki_virtualcoaching team behind me supporting me!

Some months it is just about fighting to maintain the strength you’ve accumulated or maintain consistency as best as possible!

Shouldn’t be getting sick anytime soon I hope so just back to grinding towards next comp!
